Georgia is a country with the richest traditions. In this regard, the chess genius of our country plays a very important role. A clear proof of this is that for a quarter of a century, international grandmasters Nona Gaprindashvili and Maia Chiburdanidze have worthily held the chess Olympus. The Adjara chess school can also be considered one of the pearls of Georgian chess.
Currently, the club has its own budget, we have renovated the work premises, purchased chess equipment and created the best conditions for club members to practice. Grandmasters and successful young chess players are paid scholarships, and master classes are periodically held with specially invited recognized chess players.
Thematic lectures, training seminars, simultaneous games, friendly matches, exchange programs are held with professional trainers, and off-site classes are organized both in the regions and abroad. Children participate in chess programs developed by international grandmasters. The women’s team of the chess club “Nona” annually represents Adjara in club championships, which was impossible for a long time due to financial problems. We think that this will be a great incentive for them to succeed. During business visits, memorandums of understanding were signed with chess clubs of foreign countries: Lithuania – Juoda Balta; Azerbaijan – “AG AT”; Uzbekistan – “Sports School” and Belarus – “FIDE CHESS SCHOOL in Belarus”.
